Rev Andrew Fitzgerald – The Father’s House: Where We Love One Another – John 15:9-17

“My command is this: love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:12-13)

We are exploring what it means to be the family or household of God. Within this house we are a family who should encourage one another and spur one another on, live holy lives in submission to Christ and in pursuit of God’s blessing as a Christian community. Jesus also commands that we “love each other” but how? We could spend time with one another, offer hospitality, show compassion, pray for one another, offer encouragement, generosity and help. But Jesus additionally says that we must love each other as He has loved us – sacrificially, at personal cost, exampled by His death on the cross. The only way we can replicate this love is to know and receive it for ourselves. And so do you know how to love others? Can you love as Jesus loves? Do you know the depth of God’s love for you or need a fresh revelation of this love so to share it with others?
