“Break my heart for what breaks Yours, everything I am for Your kingdom’s cause.” (‘Hosanna’ written by Brooke Fraser)
This Sunday we explored God’s clear heart for the marginalised as identified in Isaiah 58, Luke 4 and Matthew 25. Jesus was anointed for this task and with the same Spirit, we too are to share a heart for the marginalised, serving them as though we are serving Christ Himself (“whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40). How can we feed the hungry and quench the thirst of the thirsty? How can we invite the stranger and clothe the naked? How can we look after the sick and visit the imprisoned? Who are the marginalised that God calls us to serve? This is a personal challenge but also for us all, being the body and family of Christ.
