“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” (Micah 5:2, NIV)
This verse reminds us of God’s plan to send His Son, who had been with him in eternity into the world as ruler of all. In this we see clearly God’s physical reign here on earth as well as in heaven. 700 years later, the angel Gabriel would come to Mary and tell her she was to be the mother of this Ruler, who she was to call Jesus because he would save his people.
As believers God reigns in our lives but we have to do our bit if we want to give him complete freedom to do so. For God to have full reign in our lives and the life of our church we need to be people whose thoughts are those of God, who want what God wants, who talk about what God wants to talk about and whose time is devoted to God.
Let’s show those outside of a relationship with God what it means to have God reign in our lives, our church’s life and what it could mean for them. Let’s show them the true message of Christmas, that Jesus the Son of God came into the world to save them from their sins and give them life everlasting. What better present could anyone receive this Christmas?
